History & Origins

Development for JustBeta began in late February 2026, fueled by a desire to create a balanced, community-driven Beta experience. The server officially launched on May 5th, 2026.

JustBeta was born from the existing communities of RetroMC and BetaMC. We utilize their custom JAR and high-quality plugins to provide a stable experience.

Custom Features

While we stay true to the Beta 1.7.3 feel, JustBeta includes several quality-of-life adjustments to mob drops:

  • Zombie
    Zombies have a 2% chance to drop Cocoa Beans, so brown dye and cookies are easier to get through combat.
  • Spider
    Spiders have a 1% chance to drop Cobwebs. Handy if you're building traps or just need the resource.
  • Cow
    Cows have a 50% chance to drop an extra Raw Porkchop on top of the usual drops, a nice bonus for anyone out exploring.
  • Squid
    Squid have a 0.1% chance to drop a Sponge, a block that's otherwise unobtainable in Beta.
  • Ghast
    Ghasts have a 0.1% chance to drop a Fire block, a rare souvenir from Nether trips.

The "Just" Philosophy

The name JustBeta reflects our commitment to a "fair and just" environment. Unlike many modern servers, there are no kits available. Every player starts on the same level playing field.
